Once a dancer enters the secondary level, the main placement considerations shift away from age and now focuses on strength, capabilities and work ethic.
Secondary dancers have classes at least 3 times a week.
The secondary level adds the opportunity to begin contemporary and modern work.
Level 3 is the level when pre-pointe is offered and required for all dancers interested to take on the challenge of pointe work.
Selected dancers from level 4 - 6 are invited to enter Youth America Gran Prix and take on extra classes and rehearsals to prepare for this international event.
We do not participate in commercial dance competitions.
There are two performances every year: Sweet Suite Nutcracker in November and Extrava-DANCE-a in June. Dancers in Crazy Legs and older are invited. There are no extra fees or payments added for any performance.
To help dancers prepare for a rigorous professional or college dance career, we have a required 2 week summer intensive at the beginning of August. This schedule is 5 days a week, 9:30 - 3:30. Ballet, pointe, Broadway Jazz, contemporary, conditioning, rehearsals and performances to conclude this experience. To help families navigate summer travels and plans, this group of dancers has optional classes, but not any required to attend any classes in July.
